Director Investigative Journalism
9NEWS/TEGNA
My primary job is to lead the 9Wants to Know team of reporters, photographers, and data journalists to produce impactful investigative stories for television, podcasts, digital, social and OTT platforms.

I also lead TEGNA-wide team of investigative journalists to share story ideas, build regional partnerships, and oversee the editorial processes and production of national stories from stations across the country.
​
A big part of my job is to build and maintain strategic journalistic partnerships both for 9NEWS and TEGNA. I lead collaborative relationships with the Colorado Sun, COLab, NBC, and the Denver Gazette, to break news and produce new investigative stories with other television, digital, newspaper and radio partners.

Produced investigative stories and other special projects. Developed, trained, and led a team of volunteers that solved consumer problems. Produced newscasts in multiple dayparts.

Community and Journalism Leadership
Investigative Reporters and Editors IRE
Served on the board of directors of IRE from 2014-2020. During that time I served as chair of the conference committee, leading a team of volunteers to increase both a diversity of speakers and ideas presented, in addition to presentation techniques used on our important content panels at both the IRE & NICAR conferences.

Colorado Freedom of Information Coalition​
As Vice President of CFOIC, I work to promote freedom of the press, open government records, open meetings, and other freedom of information issues by planning numerous state-wide training sessions. A firm advocate of diversity, equity, and inclusion, I strive to foster an environment representative of a breadth of voices and experiences at these sessions to include both journalistic and FOI influencers in our community.

COLab Editorial Advisory Committee
Serve as an editorial advisor for COLab, the Colorado News Collaborative. The more than 100 member news organizations work together on covering community stories, investigating wrongdoing, and sharing resources. A big goal is to serve all Colorado by putting a spotlight on underserved communities and amplifying those voices.
